Animas High School students have the profound opportunity to dissolve into their passions for three weeks. This is through the LINK Internship that Animas High School offers. For a total of 21 days, juniors are allowed to go anywhere in the WORLD to intern in a field they hope to love or explore.
We first set down a general idea of our likes, where we want to go and what we're seeking. From there, students find organizations, companies or local stores to contact. This is part of finding a mentor, someone who will take you under their wing to give you a taste of what they do. Honestly, I found this to be an astonishing opportunity that our school even offers something like this. It sets undecided students on paths of their desires, and it provides clarity to some that the field is in fact not what they want to do. I think this was a vital part in my high school career, something all students should do. Mentors coach the student in their field and though I did not personally have a "mentor" per-say, I found that I saw hundreds of inspirational souls. Machu Picchu taught me peace and serenity. The children I worked with taught me unconditional love and kindness.
